			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Sled dragging (pulling) is a terrific way to accomplish the task of improving physical conditioning, injury rehabilitation, and cardio training! A metal dragging sled, with incremental weight increases and a few basic straps, can transform your physique and increase your capacity to tolerate hardcore training.</p>
<p>A dragging sled is usually a metal plate with a turn-up at one end, with a loop to attach straps on the front edge and a loading pin in the middle so you can add weight. The straps are usually three or four metres long and can be attached to a belt or harness or held in the hands. The user then drags the sled along the ground to train.</p>
<p>A pulling (dragging) sled is typically a metal plate with a &#8220;lip&#8221; on one side and a pole stick up from the middle of it. This pole allows you to add or remove standard weight plates to vary the resistance. The edge of the plate with the lip is usually attached to a chain or rope. On this chain or rope you can attach your weight lifting belt or other forms of harnesses or handles.</p>
<p>During gardening season, a plastic sled without runners is a great tool for dragging your garden supplies around. You can simply place the garden tools that you need in your sled, and then drag it up the grassy hill to your gardening spot. You can also fill your sled full of weeds that need to be taken to the garbage can. It should be noted, of course, that a sled drags best over grass.</p>
<p>Take your weight training outside to mix it up: During the summer months I really enjoy taking my strength training outside. I love taking my weights out into my backyard or to the local park. Training with a loved one or a group of dedicated friends is a great way to do it. Some of the training tools that work well for outdoor training are kettlebells</p>
<p>This idea ties in with the above principle. When possible, choose to train in a standing or ground based position rather than seated or lying. This alone will make the exercise much more functional, and more challenging! Compare the seated overhead press to a standing military press; or seated rows to bent-over barbell rows. There is also typically a greater involvement of your core muscles with ground based exercises.</p>
<p>As much as I love kettlebell training, its towards the bottom of the list, because these suckers ARE expensive. However, once you have one, you&#8217;ll have it for life, and can use it for a variety of movements. I recommend most guys get a 24kg and use it primarily as a GPP tool, doing tons of high rep swings, snatches, clean and presses, and complexes with it. If money is no concern, then definitely pick up a pair or get some heavier kettlebells as well.</p>
<p>The point is to change things up. Think of something that would even be fun. Maybe you can train with circuits-performing several exercises one right after the other. Maybe you can try flipping tires, dragging a sled, training with kettlebells, sandbags, jump rope, etc.</p>

<p>The more motor units you can activate during your weight lifting exercises the stronger the contraction. Meaning you&#8217;ll be able to lift a greater amount of weight for an increased number of repetitions.</p>
<p>However, it isn’t just the activity rates that affect your metabolism. Your muscle tissue is where the bulk of your calories are burned in your body. Unfortunately, if you are not participating in activities that will maintain your lean muscle mass, you will start to lose approximately one half pound of lean mass every year after around the age of 30.</p>
<p>These are few benefits of weight lifting. All the benefits of weight lifting simply could not be mentioned on one page. But believe me weight lifting is the key to a healthier life and weight loss. Weight lifting and exercises can be considered the basics of a man&#8217;s health life. Most of people who doing exercises and lifting weights are slim and have no excess body fat.</p>
<p>The fact is shaping muscle results from decreasing subcutaneous body fat. If you simply decrease your calories each day, you can develop greater natural muscle definition. Greater natural muscle definition is even possible without lifting weights, that is, if your body fat drops low enough.</p>
<p>But probably the biggest danger of weight lifting is that you become a slave to doing so for the rest of your life. What most people don&#8217;t realize is that all those muscles, if not constantly exercised, eventually turn into fat. So, unless you are prepared to spend the rest of your life as a slave to those barbells, you might want to give a second thought to the idea.</p>
<p>The training of the various muscle groups of the body in such away as to produce some sort of classic ideal of form. Since muscle growth is such an important part of this discipline, resistance training, commonly with free weights and weight machines, is the major portion of the training cycle.</p>
<p>Lay on your back with your hands beside your head &#8211; not behind &#8211; or crossed on your chest. Bring your feet up towards your buttocks, and put them (the feet &#8211; stop laughing) flat on the floor. Hypoglycemia occurs when the blood glucose level drops too low to provide energy for the body and the brain. Hypoglycemia mainly occurs as a complication of insulin therapy, however some of the pills that are used in the treatment of diabetes may also cause hypoglycemia.</p>
<p>Sugar is a good slave but a very taxing master. Sugar is one of the main sources of energy or fuel for the body. Now, our body extracts sugar from the meals we have. Sugar can be carbohydrates which is a complex form of this stimulating source or just plain sugar. It is rather interesting to note that our body always keeps a buffer stock of sugar in the liver. This vital storehouse of sugar is called glycogen.</p>
<p>Various studies have provided substantial proof that alcoholism, or excessive drinking of alcohol, can indeed lead to hypoglycemia. There are several instances that the human body is incapable of multi-tasking and imbibing liquor is one of those times. Since your body is almost fully concentrated on breaking down alcohol, the liver is unable to produce as much blood sugar as it should. Without a proper level of glucose in your body, hypoglycemia is often the result.</p>
<p>We’ll try to explain the process as simply as possible. Firstly, it’s important to remember that brain tissues work similarly with animal tissues. The brain also needs blood sugar or glucose to operate efficiently.</p>
<p>Firstly, always check your blood glucose. Don’t be lazy about this. Knowing your blood glucose count will help you more accurately estimate just how many minutes you can exercise continuously before you have to eat once more. Your doctor will inform you at what particular level is it considered safe for you to exercise.</p>
<p>However, through monitoring with vigilance and by avoiding low levels of blood glucose, patients taking insulin have the ability to sense the onslaught of symptoms. In a study made back in 2001, it was discovered that by glucose-control let-up and through making it tight again, sufferers of diabetes could actually reset their own awareness of symptoms.</p>
<p>In fact Time magazine in the 80&#8242;s went as far to run an article on Hypoglycemia which it unapologetically titled &#8220;The fad disease&#8221;. The article published in April 1980 suggested unequivocally that Hypoglycemia is nothing more than the figment of the sufferer’s imagination.</p>
<p>The most common forms of moderate and severe hypoglycemia occur as a complication of treatment of diabetes mellitus with insulin or oral medications. The adrenergic symptoms often precede the neuroglycopenic symptoms and, thus, provide an early warning system for the patient. Studies have shown that the primary stimulus for the release of catecholamines is the absolute level of plasma glucose.</p>
<p>Researchers have had a hard time figuring out how reactive hypoglycemia occurs. They also have a hard time diagnosing reactive hypoglycemia. This is because once a person&#8217;s blood sugar returns to normal, there&#8217;s no way for doctors to tell that the person&#8217;s blood sugar was ever at an abnormal level.</p>

<p>A friend of mine emailed me this week asking me for some advice on how to lose weight based on my own experiences and information I&#8217;ve learned over the years. I wouldn&#8217;t consider him overweight; he&#8217;s around 6 feet tall and 185 lbs. and would like to get down to around 170 lbs.</p>
<p>The EMS machine can be used as a supplement to training after a strenuous workout by placing the pads on the body part that has been worked on and turning the machine on low for 15 minutes. The machine will allow blood to circulate to the muscle and bring in important nutrients to help the muscle rebuild to optimum level. To maximize strength gains with the EMS machine you must use the highest level you can handle and keep it on for a few minutes.</p>
<p>There are two types of fibers in the muscles that can be simply labeled as either fast-twitching or slow-twitching. The slow variety is unable to produce as much force as the fast variety can. Activities that require the much effort are obviously mad possible by the action of the fast muscles. The type of muscle chosen for a particular task is governed by the &#8216;size principle&#8217;. Muscle fibers are activated starting with the slowest going to the fastest.</p>
<p>In contrast to bodybuilding, we want to avoid being tired as much as possible when training for pure strength. This means we want close to complete recovery between sets. The exact amount of time will depend on the exercise, but anywhere from 3-6 minutes is typical. Some powerlifters are known to take up to 15 minutes between heavy squats or deadlifts!</p>
<p>During a workout there are also some rules you need to follow. Always warm up by doing some light cardio for five to ten minutes. This will help prevent muscles tearing and will get your weight lifting going at the proper intensity right off the bat. Rest only enough to catch your breath between workouts. You want to keep it at a moderately intense level the entire time.</p>
<p>Training to failure is definitely a bodybuilding thing. None of your sets in your strength training program should ever be taken to failure. Every time you train to failure you areteaching your nervous system to fail. You will be rewarded with weaker impulses sent to the muscle on the next sets you perform. When you train to failure you are taking a &#8220;few steps back&#8221; in your quest to gaining strength. Obviously forced reps are to be avoided as well.</p>
<p>Each set you perform should be 2-5 reps, but you will need to perform many sets to get the proper practice. You can decide for yourself how many sets you want to</p>
<p>perform, I recommend between 6-10 sets in the major lifts.</p>

<p>Many people are concerned at the excess flab that seems to accumulate even more at this time of year, now that the festivities are over and life begins to drift back to normality. 			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Sprains are caused when a particular muscle of the body is suddenly overexerted. It is felt as a sharp pain, rendering that portion of the body immobile for a while. Sprains can cause redness and swelling of the region and can persist for a few days if they are too acute. In very severe cases, sprains can lead to permanent muscular pains and even disfigurement.</p>
<p>When you strain a muscle, sometimes commonly called a pulled muscle, you had over-stretch or had torn the tendon. The tendon is the tough, cord-like end of the muscle that attaches to the bone. Strains often happen when you push yourself harder than you can do, such as when you challenge your younger brother to a 100 meters sprint. A sprain refers to a torn or overstretched ligament (the connective tissue that joins two bones together).</p>
<p>Traumatic arthritis is a common form of osteoarthritis that develops in the foot of a patient following some form of severe injury. This can develop in the foot even when the injury was treated correctly, and given time to recover fully. The most common forms of traumatic foot arthritis are a torn ligament, broken bone or severe sprain.</p>
<p>And if you think a sprained ankle is most likely to be a runner&#8217;s problem, guess again. Sedentary folks who slip, stumble, or otherwise take a misstep may be more likely to sprain an ankle than athletic types. Prompt treatment will speed healing and reduce the risk of further injury. Twenty percent of sprains lead to chronic ankle pain.</p>
<p>The ankle joint has several different ligaments that keep it in place and keep the body stable. Most of the ligaments are positioned on the outside of the ankle, but there are a few on the inside, too. The three main ones are the anterior talofibular, the posterior talofibular and the calcaneofibular ligaments.</p>
<p>I did a great deal of research and learned that there is indeed a much more effective way to treat a sprained ankle. One of the biggest drawbacks of R.I.C.E. is that it tells you to just rest and ice. But, you actually need to get moving just as quickly as possible. Besides, ice is only effective for a short while and that only contains the swelling, it doesn&#8217;t decrease it.</p>
<p>There are six steps to preventing strains and sprains from occurring. These tips come directly from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons. The first tip is to practice a conditioning program. Condition programs are meant to build muscle. Strong muscles get strained less and prevent from the twisting and rolling of joints that cause sprains. The second tip is to always stretch.</p>
<p>The most important part of R.I.C.E. is the compression. It is the most effective way to treat your swelling. Ice alone will not prevent excessive swelling. Elevation and rest alone will not prevent swelling. Only compression can work to eliminate excessive swelling around your ankle. This is the key to getting your recovery started right.</p>
<p>If an ankle sprain is not recognized, and is not treated with the necessary attention and care, chronic problems of pain and instability may result.</p>

<p>When breaking down the pitching motion, a right-handed pitcher must be able to load the right leg, or drive leg, in order to produce force and transfer it through a strong stable core into a flexible upper body in a &#8220;whipping-like&#8221; motion releasing the ball to the target. The force developed in the body must be slowed down when the left or lead leg hits the ground and the upper body flexes over the leg during the follow through.</p>
<p>Many excuses for not exercising include a fear of being able to do it correctly, no energy or no time to do exercise. However, bodyweight exercises eliminate all of these fears and excuses. They can be simple to do. Even just completing a few sit ups, push ups, and stair steps can get you started. Routines need only take ten minutes and after just those few minutes you find that you now have more energy than when you started.</p>
<p>Everyone has heard the saying if you don&#8217;t use it you lose it. As your younger you don&#8217;t usually think much about it. As we age, we all tends to get into routines that restrict our muscle movement, our bodies are not as forgiving as they once where back in grade school with all sorts of sports and activities. Just look at the kids running up and down the streets playing with an endless supply of energy.</p>
<p>The body does not work one muscle at a time. So why would you train that way? The exercises above help develop athleticism and the ability of the body to work as one harmonious unit. This type of development is what makes a great athlete. So don&#8217;t worry about a burn or a pump, focus on moving properly.</p>
<p>Place hands on wall. Proceed to walk out as far as possible with hands still on wall. Hold and then walk back.The idea eventually is to get your butt as close to the floor as you can without losing and position. To challenge yourself even more, hold at end range 5-6 seconds. Try to work to 5 sets of 5-6reps</p>
<p>Hold onto a bar with arms straight. Lift one leg off ground slowly to about 90 degrees other leg is on ground Hold 5 sec. and bring down. Do other leg the same way. Do 5 each.Too tough? Hold 1 sec. Too easy? Start with both legs off ground at all times and don&#8217;t touch ground at all.</p>
<p>Of course, you will want to take it slow when beginning Gyrotonic. After all, many of the exercises are designed for those who are already coming into the experience with a basic level of flexibility, athleticism, balance and strength. That is why you may want to experiment with a few exercises at first, or even take up yoga or Pilates before moving on to a Gyrotonic program.</p>
